Banners
Making a web banner is a good pixel paint activity. Follow these steps to
make a basic web banner for your DWT. We will use 2 or 3 images along with
the color palette from your DWT. All work will be in Paint Shop Pro

Steps to follow:
- Open Paint Shop Pro with 2 or 3 images that will be used in your
banner.
- Take a print screen of your DWT and paste this into PSP.
- Your screen will look like this:
- DWT Print screen
- Picture 1
- Picture 2

- Create a new painting the size of your web banner
760 x 60 pixels (Note: You could make this 60 to 120 pixels high)

- Use the flood fill tool and paint the new banner the same color as
your DWT.
- Your screen will look like this:

- Select your new banner and create a new raster layer to hold your
first picture.
- Name the layer. I will name this BOAT1.

- Prepare BOAT1 picture to fit into your banner
- Crop the picture
- Resize the picture to 60 pixels high
- Zoom boat1 to 100%
- You are now ready to clone BOAT1 onto your banner.
- Your screen will look like this:

- Use the CLONE brush
and
clone BOAT1 onto the BOAT1 layer in your banner.
- To use the clone tool, RIGHT CLICK THE BOAT1 and left click and
paint on your banner. Feather in the boat1 to your banner.
- Your screen will look like this:

- Make a new layer for picture #2, I will call this SUNSET.

- Prepare picture #2 to fit into your banner
- Crop the picture
- Resize the picture to 60 pixels high
- Zoom picture to 100%
- You are now ready to clone picture2 onto your banner.
- Your screen will look like this:

- Clone the sunset onto the new layer called sunset.
- After cloning, your screen will look like this:

- Be creative and clone another image. I will use the same boat
picture and flip it and scale it smaller making a second boat on a
new layer.
- Check this out....

- Last step is to add the text for the site topic and a site
tagline.
- Make new layer for your text

- Place your site title or topic on this layer.
- Remember: text color is controlled by the background
color and text outline color is controlled by the foreground
color
- Here is BLACK over TAN

- Place your text on the text layer. I recommend that you use
vector text.
- Your screen will look like this:

- Save your banner as a PAINT SHOP PRO image.
- Use FILE Export JPEG to lift a copy of this painting as a JPEG.

- Do not compress the JPEG, set this to 0.
- Save the JPEG export into your DWT folder.
- Insert the banner on your DWT using FRONTPAGE.

- Save your DWT.
- View your site.
- CONGRATULATIONS....your first web banner.
